Power of Co Guides Governmental, Organizational Leaders to Discover the Best Answers to their Worst Problems

Twyfords launches its book The Power of Co: The Smart Leaders’ Guide to Collaborative Governance to North American readers. The launch coincides with a series of workshops presented by the firm’s founder Vivien Twyford in Toronto, Ont.; Calgary, B.C.; and Missoula, Mont., about tackling tough problems facing governments, communities and businesses through the power of effective decision making that underpins collaborative governance.

“Global, national and community problems are increasingly complex, requiring a new mode of governance and decision making to affect real change,” says Stuart Waters, managing director at Australian-headquartered Twyfords. “Antiquated political and corporate decision making systems can’t solve the issues we face.               The Power of Co: The Smart Leaders’ Guide to Collaborative Governance emerged out of dissatisfaction with the marketplace of solutions for solving vitally important dilemmas, such as:

• Managing a corporate or public budget that delivers important outcomes while reducing associated costs to taxpayers or customers.

Twyfords’ reengineered approach to collaboration explores the core beliefs, attitudes and behaviors from which the best answers to the worst problems arise.

              The book is written by the firm’s directors: Twyford, Waters, Max Hardy and John Dengate who have more than 50 years of collective expertise in collaboration for government agencies, corporations and nonprofit organizations. It was released in Australia and New Zealand in 2012.
